Meerut, July 1 -- A 40-year-old vegetable trader from Mawana was killed in a gruesome road accident late Monday night after a garbage-laden tractor-trolley rammed into his motorcycle near the Kali river bridge on the Daurala-Masuri Road in Meerut. The impact left the victim trapped beneath the vehicle, which allegedly dragged him and his motorcycle for nearly 100 metres before overturning into a roadside ditch. He died on the spot, while the driver fled the scene. The deceased was identified as Kuldeep Saini, a resident of Mawana and a commission agent at the Mawana vegetable market. The driver reportedly escaped under the cover of darkness before police arrived. A search has been launched to trace and arrest the absconding driver.
