CHENNAI, Oct. 26 -- The special investigation team (SIT) of Tamil Nadu Police has registered an eighth FIR under the Pocso Act against granite baron R Veeramani, who is accused of sustained sexual assault of several minor victims over the last multiple decades, police said on Sunday. The first information report (FIR) was registered based on a complaint by a victim who alleged that Veeramani sexually assaulted her at his residence in Chennai's Gopalapuram when she was a minor, a senior The case was registered on October 21, said an officer. Veeramani, four of his close associates and three drivers are currently in custody in connection with the case, pegging the arrest tally at eight.
