Haldwani, April 15 -- The state forest department has proposed the development of a "Leopard Park" within Corbett National Park, in an attempt to offer tourists a unique wildlife experience while addressing the rising incidents of human-leopard conflict, officials aware of the matter said on Tuesday.
A proposal to identify a suitable site for the park has already been submitted to the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), they said.
Forest officials said further action on the project will begin once the NTCA grants permission. The initiative is also expected to help manage the growing population of Leopard and reduce incidents of conflict between humans and leopards in areas surrounding the reserve.

"The increasing tiger population has led to displacement of leopards, which is one of the main reasons behind the rise in human-leopard conflict. To address this issue and ensure the safety of both wildlife and local residents, the department has proposed the establishment of a Leopard Park," he added.
Badola further said the proposed Leopard Park will be enclosed with fencing on all sides to ensure controlled movement of animals and enhanced safety for visitors....
