Lucknow, July 3 -- A meeting between the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) management and representatives of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Tender-Contract Employees' Union on Thursday ended with consensus on several long-pending workforce issues, including increased staffing at power substations, reinstatement of removed employees and payment of pending dues. However, both sides remained divided on key demands on outsourcing policy and retirement age. It was decided that every power substation would have four outsourced substation operators and two operator assistants. The corporation also agreed to increase manpower at substations in proportion to the number of outgoing feeders, with employees who were previously removed from service to be given priority for re-engagement. The management assured the union that unskilled workers would not be assigned electricity line work and warned of strict action against officials found forcing such employees to perform hazardous duties. The corporation agreed to clear pending wages of employees removed from Kushinagar in March 2023, reinstate the remaining 44 outsourced workers who were removed during the May 2025 stir, and release salaries of employees whose payments were withheld due to facial attendance issues.
