UPP makes e-Sakshya app mandatory for probes
Lucknow, May 22 -- Uttar Pradesh director general of police Rajeev Krishna has issued statewide guidelines making use of the e-Sakshya mobile application mandatory in criminal investigations to strengthen digital evidence collection and transparency.
In a circular issued from police headquarters, the DGP said the app and web portal have been developed in line with the new criminal laws to ensure secure and legally admissible evidence management. Investigating officers have been directed to use the platform for photography and videography of crime scenes, searches, seizures, witness statements and property disposal proceedings under various provisions of the BNSS.
Police said the app allows real-time evidence capture, timestamp-based authentication and secure digital storage linked to a central monitoring portal. Supervisory officers have been instructed to ensure all FIR-linked evidence is uploaded within 72 hours.
