UP to unlock livestock potential with private partnership drive
LUCKNOW, Feb. 11 -- Seeking to draw greater private investment into the livestock sector, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday held an interaction with industry representatives to identify gaps, challenges and business opportunities across the value chain.
The meeting, organised by the animal husbandry department along with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, saw participation from officials, entrepreneurs and industry bodies, who discussed issues ranging from milk and meat processing to animal feed, disease control, veterinary services and export potential.
Additional chief secretary Mukesh Meshram informed participants about existing schemes linked to breed improvement and dairy development, including programmes promoting indigenous cattle breeds like Sahiwal, Gir and Tharparkar.
Director of animal husbandry department Mempal Singh stressed on the need to strengthen infrastructure and services to improve productivity and farmer incomes.
Mukesh Bahadur Singh, chairman of the UP Coordination Committee of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, said structured engagement between government and industry could help convert policies into viable projects on the ground.htc...
