Lucknow, July 29 -- Uttar Pradesh is looking to build a new spiritual tourism circuit around three revered seers: Sant Ravidas, Guru Gorakhnath and Brahmarishi Deoraha Baba. Timed with Guru Purnima, the state's heritage push seeks to transform places associated with these spiritual icons into major pilgrimage and tourism destinations while highlighting UP's centuries-old guru tradition. The biggest investment is at Seer Govardhan Dham in Varanasi, the birthplace of Sant Ravidas, where Rs.51.54 crore has been spent on redevelopment and expansion, besides Rs.2.59 crore for park development. The state is also celebrating the legacy of Guru Gorakhnath, the Nath yogi whose teachings continue to influence spiritual traditions across South Asia. A 51-foot bronze statue of Gorakhnath has been installed at Gorakhgiri Hill in Mahoba at a cost of Rs.11.25 crore, while another 25-foot bronze statue in a meditative posture is under construction at Jais in Amethi for nearly Rs.5.95 crore. In eastern Uttar Pradesh, work is underway on a Rs.2.50-crore tourism project at the Brahmarishi Deoraha Baba Ashram in Deoria.
