Lucknow, Feb. 7 -- The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday launched 18 'Vaama Swavalamban Kendras' across the state to provide job-oriented skill training to families of police personnel. An MoU was also signed with the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission. Meenakshi Singh, chairperson of Vaama Sarathi (UP Police Family Welfare Association), and Hari Om, principal secretary for vocational education, skill development and entrepreneurship, inaugurated the centres at the Police headquarters. The centres have been set up in Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar, Prayagraj, Agra, Aligarh, Banda, Bareilly, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Basti, Gonda, Jhansi, Ayodhya, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Azamgarh and Mirzapur. Under the MoU, more than 1,700 women and youth from police families will receive training in the first phase. Director general of police Rajeev Krishna said the welfare of police families is a moral responsibility. Meenakshi Singh said the initiative aims to provide livelihood opportunities. Hari Om announced relaxation in eligibility norms, including an increase in the age limit from 35 to 45 years. htc...
