LUCKNOW, Aug. 3 -- Uttar Pradesh has launched a motorcycle tourism initiative to promote adventure travel and showcase its lesser-known heritage destinations. The inaugural edition of 'The Riding Chapters: Visit My State' was flagged off from Lucknow on Sunday, with nearly 65 riders embarking on a two-day, 330-km expedition to the historic Kalinjar Fort in Banda. The route passes through Kanpur, Bindki and Banda, showcasing region's rich heritage and rural tourism potential while encouraging travellers to explore destinations beyond conventional tourism circuit. The inaugural edition centres on Kalinjar Fort, one of India's oldest living forts and a landmark of Bundelkhand's rich history. Closely associated with Lord Neelkanth Mahadev, the Chandela dynasty and centuries of military history, the fort is being promoted as a destination offering a blend of heritage, spirituality, nature and adventure. Additional chief secretary of tourism, culture and religious affairs Amrit Abhijat said the department is focusing on thematic travel experiences that encourage visitors to discover unexplored destinations. The campaign will continue later this month with another motorcycle expedition to Devdari Waterfalls, Rajdari Waterfalls and Chunar Fort, extending the initiative to emerging tourism destinations in eastern UP.
