UP child immunization coverage rises to 81.4%
Lucknow, May 31 -- Uttar Pradesh has recorded a sharp improvement in child immunization, with full vaccination coverage among children aged 12-23 months increasing from 69.9% to 81.4%, according to National Family Health Survey-6, Dy CM Brajesh Pathak said on Saturday.
Pathak said the 11.5 percentage-point increase places Uttar Pradesh among the top three states showing the highest improvement in immunization coverage. He credited the achievement to intensive vaccination drives, the efforts of healthcare workers and greater public awareness.
He said special campaigns helped extend vaccination services to remote and rural areas. Pathak urged parents to ensure timely vaccination of their children, noting that all essential vaccines are available free of cost at government health centres.
