U'khand HC bars gym owner from social media posts on controversy
Dehradun, March 21 -- The Uttarakhand High Court on Friday directed Deepak Kumar, popularly known as "Muhammad" Deepak and other accused in the Kotdwar incident "not to make any post on social media on the matter and cooperate with police in the investigation," while objecting to the plea filed by Kumar, and the other accused Vijay Rawat, who sought quashing of an FIR registered against them and police protection for themselves.
Hearing the petition, justice Rakesh Thapliyal observed that the petitioners, who are "accused" in the FIR registered at Kotdwar police station in Pauri Garhwal district, cannot simultaneously seek police protection when they are themselves being investigated in the matter. On January 31, an FIR was lodged against the two under the charges of rioting and breach of peace in connection with the matter that pertains to the alleged harassment of an elderly Muslim shopkeeper in Kotdwar town of Pauri district. .htc...
