Dehradun, Aug. 27 -- A booth-level agent with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district has filed more than 6,000 Form-7 objections seeking deletion of voters from the electoral rolls of Kichha assembly constituency under the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state. Speaking to HT on Tuesday, Rajesh Tiwari, who serves as BJP's BLA-1 in the district, claimed that the forms were submitted after an "internal analysis" found thousands of voters registered in neighbouring districts that fell in Uttar Pradesh. Kichha ERO Gaurav Pandey said the administration was following ECI's guidelines to deal with the objections. He clarified that mass objections were subjected to additional scrutiny. "Anybody can file any number of objections. However, if someone files objections on a large scale, we maintain greater vigilance. We also verify the individual who is filing the objections," he said.
