LUCKNOW, Aug. 7 -- Lucknow Police have arrested two men for allegedly opening fire at an SUV carrying a group of youths in Gomti Nagar Extension and recovering the firearm allegedly used in attack. One of the accused is life convict in a murder case who was out on bail, police said on Thursday. According to police, the incident took place around 10 pm on August 4 near Sadar Tehsil in Sector 5 under the Gomti Nagar Extension police station limits. Complainant Shubham Tripathi, a resident of Khargapur, alleged that the accused fired at his Scorpio SUV with the intention to kill him and his friends, Amit Singh, Abhishek Mishra, Mihir Singh and Aman Singh. Based on complaint, police registered an FIR against Rahul Singh and three other named accused under relevant provisions of BNS. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Rahul Singh (32), a resident of Chhota Barha in Alambagh, and Suhail Ghazi (22), a resident of Pawanpuri in Alambagh, from near Himalayan Tiraha underpass in Gomti Nagar Extension on Wednesday night. Police said they recovered a .32 bore country-made firearm and two live cartridges from the accused, allegedly used in firing.
