Meerut, Sept. 18 -- Two young friends were killed and three others injured after their car overturned and crashed into a high-mast light pole while they were returning from a late-night tea outing in Budaun district, police said on Thursday. The accident occurred late Wednesday night near Kalyan Chowk under the Ujhani Kotwali police station area. According to police, the five friends, all from Narayanganj locality in Ujhani, had gone out in a car to have tea at a newly opened stall along the Ujhani-Budaun road. Ujhani circle officer Rahul Pandey said the group was returning home when a stray bull suddenly appeared near Kalyan Chowk. The driver attempted to avoid the animal, causing the car to go out of control and crash into a road divider. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn before it subsequently rammed into a high-mast light pole, Pandey said. Sagar, 20, and Ramkesh died at the spot, the officer said. The other three occupants, Saksham Mishra, 18, Ankit Shakya, 20, and another youth, sustained injuries. The injured were taken to Rajkiya Medical College for treatment.
