PRAYAGRAJ, May 21 -- Police on Wednesday arrested two youths accused of kidnapping and gang-raping a teenage girl under the Maheshganj police station limits in Pratapgarh. After completing legal formalities, both were produced before a court. The arrests followed a written complaint filed by the victim's family. A case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC, along with provisions of the POCSO Act and the SC/ST Act. According to police, the incident occurred on the evening of May 18 around 7:30 pm, when the girl went out toward nearby fields. Two youths, allegedly lying in wait, forcibly abducted her, gagged her and took her to an under-construction building. Police said the accused threatened her at gunpoint and assaulted her, keeping her confined through the night. The girl managed to return home the next morning and informed her family, who then approached the police. SHO Sandeep Tiwari said the two named accused, Qunain Khan (19) and Saif Hussain (23), were arrested near the ITD underpass in Rai Askaranpur. Further legal proceedings are underway. htc...
