Three motorcycle riders killed as coal-laden truck hits them
Varanasi, April 20 -- Three people riding a motorcycle were killed instantly near Devari Kala village on the Mirzapur-Sonbhadra main road in Mirzapur district's Madihan police station area on Saturday night, police said.
The deceased were identified as Vijay, 40, Devendra, 38, and Rajesh, 41, all residents of Rampur village, which also falls under the Madihan police station area. They were returning home late Saturday night after working as laborers at the under-construction power plant in Dadri, Madihan. When they reached the weighbridge in front of Devari Kala village, their motorcycle was struck by a coal-laden truck traveling in the opposite direction from Sonbhadra. The Madihan police were informed, reached the spot, and sent the bodies to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The truck driver fled the scene following the accident. Police have impounded the truck and initiated legal proceedings regarding the incident.
Station house officer Balmukund Mishra confirmed that three motorcycle riders died after being hit by a truck. Their next-of-kin were informed, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
