Three held for attempting to burn Union edu minister's effigy
GORAKHPUR, June 7 -- Three people were arrested at Indira Crossing in Golghar on Saturday after they allegedly attempted to burn an effigy of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan during a protest.
The protesters had gathered, under the banner of the newly emerged Cockroach Janata Party, to demonstrate against the minister over issues related to alleged NEET paper leaks and other examination irregularities. However, police intervened, seized the effigy and took three individuals into custody, preventing the protest from escalating, officials said.
Station house officer (SHO) of Cantonment Police Station, Sanjay Singh, said that more than a dozen youths carrying placards attempted to organise a symbolic demonstration.
The protest was foiled as the organisers had not obtained prior permission to hold a demonstration at a public place. htc...
