PRAYAGRAJ, March 10 -- A youth was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten following a dispute in Parsad village under the Aspur Devsara police station area in Pratapgarh on Saturday. Police have registered a case against three named individuals-including a father-son duo-and several unidentified persons after a video of the assault surfaced online. According to the complaint lodged by Shobhavati, a resident of Bahuta village in Patti Kotwali area of Pratapgarh, an argument had erupted at a house in Parsad village earlier in the day. Her son, Shubham, accompanied by his relative, later went to the village. She alleged that the duo was caught by locals, tied to a tree and beaten. She said she learned about the incident only after the video went viral on social media. Based on her complaint, police have registered a case under serious charges against Vijay, Rajesh Kumar, Asha Devi and several unidentified persons. An investigation has been initiated. Police said that earlier, based on a complaint filed by Rajesh Kumar Gautam from Parsad village, a case had already been registered against Shubham Patel of Bahuta, Shubham son of Salik Ram of Govindpur, Sachin, Ajit, Pramod and Shubham Saroj of Ramaipur under multiple sections, including those related to Dalit harassment. Station house officer Rakesh Chaurasia confirmed that police have now registered the second FIR based on the mother's complaint and that investigations in both cases were underway....
