Suheldev Army president, others booked over protest near assembly complex
LUCKNOW, Feb. 9 -- An FIR was registered against Suheldev Army national president Yogesh Pasi and around 100 unidentified people at the Hazratganj police station on Saturday for staging a protest near the Uttar Pradesh Assembly complex in violation of prohibitory orders and VVIP security norms, officials said on Sunday.
The FIR was registered under sections 189(2), 191(2), 223, 285 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint by Bagesh Sharma, sub-inspector in-charge of the Secretariat outpost, Hazratganj station house officer (SHO) Vikram Singh said.
"The organisers and participants were repeatedly asked to disperse and informed about the legal provisions, but they did not comply and became increasingly aggressive," Sharma stated in the complainant. Police said the protest was staged on Saturday in support of amendments to the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations. htc...
