VARANASI, Aug. 19 -- Hundreds of students protested on Tuesday against the shortage of teachers at Smith Inter College in Azamgarh district. The students demanded the immediate appointment of physics, chemistry and mathematics teachers. Following the protest, the principal assured them of fulfilling their demand within 48 hours, after which the protest ended. The students also warned that if the teacher shortage isn't addressed, they will be forced to protest again. On Tuesday, the students gathered outside the college at 7 am and chanted slogans for about two hours. They alleged that there have been no physics and chemistry teachers since June.
