LUCKNOW, Feb. 28 -- Ahead of Holi and other upcoming festivals, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched a statewide action plan to ensure clean and well-managed urban areas. Municipal bodies have been directed to run sanitation drives in two shifts - 5 am to 8 am for street cleaning and 4 pm to 8 pm for waste collection in markets, bus stands and other busy locations. Special drives will cover temples, ponds and ghats. Monitoring will be done through District Command and Control Centres. Citizens can report complaints via toll-free helpline 1833. Meanwhile, energy minister AK Sharma on Friday directed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Holi and the upcoming summer months and said there should be no unnecessary power cuts anywhere in Uttar Pradesh.
