LUCKNOW, June 7 -- Appointment letters and training certificates were distributed to Solar Didis under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana at a programme organised by the UP government on Saturday to promote solar energy and women's empowerment. Energy minister AK Sharma handed over the letters and certificates to women trained under the ministry of new and renewable energy's (MNRE) City Accelerator Programme. The initiative aims to create employment opportunities for women in the green energy sector while accelerating rooftop solar adoption. During the event, representatives of Hanumant Renewable Company announced that selected Solar Didis would receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 14,156. In addition, each beneficiary will be provided a free 2-kW rooftop solar system and an induction stove, enabling them to adopt clean energy solutions in their own households. MNRE CAP consultant Upkari Nath said Solar Didis would assist consumers in applying for rooftop solar installations, obtaining subsidy-related information and availing other services under the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
