Six-year-old rescued day after kidnap in Jhansi
Jhansi, Sept. 4 -- Kidnapped from the bus stand here while he was travelling to Unnao with his mother and two sisters on Monday night, a six-year-old boy was rescued and his abductor caught a day later, police said.
Jhansi senior superintendent of police BBGTS Murthy said the boy and his family reached the bus stand from Gujarat via Madhya Pradesh, from where they were supposed to leave for Safipur in Unnao. On the way, the mother, Sumitra, met a man who identified himself as 22-year-old Nitesh Kumar and said that he was going to Nigohi in Kanpur Dehat, the SSP said.
Nitish won the family's confidence. At Jhansi, Nitesh pitched in to help when Sumitra's son wanted to use the loo. The two went missing thereafter. The mother lodged a missing person's complaint with the Nawabad police station, and a case was registered under section 137(2) of the BNS. Police and SWAT teams launched a search for the boy. They found him and apprehended Nitish in the early hours of Tuesday when the man was trying to take the boy to Gujarat.
