Lucknow, July 20 -- The Uttar Pradesh government-constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple is likely to submit a status report in the Supreme Court on Monday. On July 13, the Supreme Court directed the SIT to submit the status report on the investigation, indicating it may consider issuing further directions after examining the progress of the probe. The SIT has finalised its findings and completed drafting its report, according to people familiar with the matter. Instead of submitting its final report immediately to the state government, the panel is likely to wait until Monday when the status update is scheduled to be placed before Supreme Court, the people quoted above said. The SIT report is expected to be submitted to government soon thereafter, they added. The SIT was constituted by chief minister Yogi Adityanath on June 13 following a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. It submitted its preliminary report to the home department on June 23, recommending stringent action. Based on those findings, an FIR was registered on June 25. Thereafter, the state government extended the tenure of the three-member SIT till July 15.
