Lucknow, Aug. 9 -- The vice president of SIMS Consultancy/Group, accused of defrauding individuals of Rs.60 lakh under the pretext of securing MBBS admissions, has been arrested by a joint team of the deputy commissioner of police (east) crime unit and Vibhutikhand Police, according to a press note issued by Lucknow Police. The accused, identified as Shahnawaz, 32, a resident of Mau district, was wanted in multiple cases of cheating and criminal conspiracy. He was arrested on Thursday from the Kisan Bazar Road area under Vibhutikhand Police Station. Police said several victims had lodged complaints in early January 2023, alleging that directors and agents of SIMS Consultancy, located at Cyber Heights in Vibhutikhand, had taken large sums of money in exchange for promises of securing MBBS seats.
