PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 24 -- A sub-inspector (SI) at Nawabganj police station has been suspended after a viral audio clip on social media alleged illegal extortion involving a JCB and a tractor. Acting swiftly, deputy commissioner of police (Trans-Ganga) Kuldeep Singh Gunawat on Thursday ordered the suspension of SI Virendra Singh. The DCP has also assigned assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Chandrapal Singh of Tharwai to conduct a thorough investigation, police officials confirmed. Additionally, instructions have been issued to review the conduct of the Nawabganj police station's SHO. "We have received the viral audio and, based on the prima facie evidence, sub-inspector Virendra Singh has been suspended. ACP Tharwai has been tasked with the investigation.
