Shrine allegedly built on PWD land razed
MEERUT, July 19 -- A shrine allegedly built on government land along the Moradabad-Haridwar State Highway in Moradabad district was demolished on Saturday during an anti-encroachment drive conducted by the Kanth tehsil administration, the revenue department and the public works department (PWD), with police deployed to maintain law and order.
As per officials, the shrine stood on Gata No. 152 in Khalilpur Amru village near Kench Ki Puliya. Revenue records and a spot inspection confirmed that about 58.40 square metres of PWD land had been encroached upon after the owner of adjoining Gata No. 206 allegedly expanded the shrine.
Following the inquiry, Kanth SDM Snigdha Chaturvedi ordered a joint operation by the revenue department, PWD and police. The structure was razed and the government land was cleared.HTC...
