Short walks, stairs leave you breathless? KGMU experts explain why
LUCKNOW, Aug. 9 -- Breathlessness during routine activities, fatigue after short walks and breathlessness while climbing stairs should not be dismissed as weakness, as these may be early signs of pulmonary hypertension (PH), Dr Ved Prakash, head of the department of pulmonary and critical care medicine at King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, said at the Pulmonary Hypertension Summit held at Shatabdi Bhawan Auditorium on Saturday.
"PH increases pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs, making the right side of the heart work harder. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help control the disease and improve quality of life," Dr Prakash said, according to a press release.
