Lakhimpur Kheri, June 8 -- A seven-year-old boy was killed in a leopard attack in the Dudhwa buffer zone on Sunday evening, marking the seventh human casualty in big cat attacks in the area this year.
Shubham, a resident of Laljipurwa hamlet in Raypur village under Isanagar police station limits, was accompanying his father to irrigate their field when a leopard attacked him near the Dhaurahra forest range.
Villagers managed to chase the animal away, but the child suffered critical injuries and later died during treatment at Khamariya Community Health Centre.
Dudhwa buffer zone deputy director Kirti Choudhary confirmed the incident and said an investigation was underway. The death sparked protests, with villagers blocking the Khamariya-Isanagar road and demanding the leopard's capture. htc...
