AGRA, July 10 -- A private security guard travelling on a UPSRTC bus died on Thursday after his 12-bore gun accidentally discharged. The incident, which occurred while the bus was en route from Mainpuri to Delhi, also resulted in minor injuries to a police constable and another passenger during the subsequent rescue efforts. The deceased has been identified as Vinod Yadav, a resident of Damri village in the Sidhpura area of Kasganj. According to Aligarh superintendent of police (City) Aditya Bansal, Yadav was travelling to Ghaziabad to resume his duties as a security guard when the incident took place. Witnesses on the bus reported that Yadav had placed the butt of the gun on the floor of the vehicle, with the barrel resting against his chest. The weapon fired accidentally while the bus was in motion, causing severe injuries to Yadav. Upon receiving an alert from the bus driver, police from the Ghabhana station arrived at the scene. As officers attempted to secure the weapon to assist with Yadav's transport to the hospital, a second accidental discharge occurred. This incident injured a police constable, identified as Ravindra, and another passenger, Rajan Kumar, who sustained an injury to his leg. "It was not a major injury to the constable and the fellow passenger, who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment," SP City Aditya Bansal said. "However, Vinod Yadav succumbed to his injuries after being shifted to the hospital." The 12-bore shotgun was subsequently removed from the bus by arms experts. While preliminary investigations suggest the firearm was licensed, SP Bansal stated that further verification is underway. htc...
