Security guard foils jewellery theft at SGPGI
LUCKNOW, Oct. 1 -- An alert security guard foiled an attempt to steal jewellery from an elderly woman at the new OPD building of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), after a man allegedly posed as a hospital employee and tricked her into removing her ornaments.
According to the institute, the incident occurred when the woman's son had gone to the OPD pharmacy to collect medicines. The suspect allegedly told her that a doctor had called her for a knee examination and that jewellery was not allowed inside the examination room. He asked her to hand over the ornaments for safekeeping. As she began removing them, a security guard noticed the suspicious interaction. The suspect then allegedly grabbed the jewellery and fled but was chased and caught by the guard. A search led to the recovery of a gold mangalsutra and an earring, which the woman identified as hers.htc...
