GORAKHPUR, Oct. 13 -- A 31-year-old security guard from Deoria allegedly fell into an uncovered drain near Chhatra Sangh Crossing in Gorakhpur on Sunday night and died. The incident has raised fresh concerns about the failure of civic authorities and contractors to ensure safety at construction sites, despite several similar fatal accidents. The deceased, Sarvesh Kumar, was the son of Tulsi Prasad and a resident of Lohiya Nagar, Ward 13, in Salempur, Deoria. Locals spotted his body in a drain in front of a night shelter near Chhatra Sangh Crossing on Monday morning. Police received information around 8:30 am and retrieved the body.
