Hyderabad, Sept. 3 -- The Bollarum police in Hyderabad, along with military intelligence authorities, on Wednesday questioned at least four persons suspecting their role in the theft of firearms and ammunition from the weaponry in Secunderabad Cantonment in the wee hours of Monday, officials familiar with the development said. The incident that came to light on Monday morning involved the theft of 12 rifles, 21 magazines, a night-vision binocular and 1,912 rounds of ammunition. After initial internal inquiry, the military authorities lodged a complaint with the Bollarum police later in the evening. A police official privy to the investigation said following instructions from the defence ministry, which took serious note of the incident, military intelligence also entered the investigation on Wednesday. "Several military officials from Delhi have arrived in Hyderabad and are examining the possible circumstances, motives and security lapses that may have facilitated the theft," the official said. The authorities have come to the conclusion that it was a well-planned theft, as the miscreants broke open the locks and boxes containing weapons and ammunition at "Kote and Battalion Magazine" (ammunition storage) at Bollarum....
