LUCKNOW, Aug. 13 -- A probe into suspected counterfeit medicines in Lucknow has uncovered a multi-crore paper trail allegedly involving fake billing and transactions without actual movement of medicines. The FSDA has lodged an FIR against four people-Ankur Awasthi, Manish Bajpai, Govind Shukla and Ejaz Ahmed-on the directions of commissioner Roshan Jacob. Investigators are focusing on 39.20 lakh Zoryl M1 tablets whose whereabouts could not be established. According to the FSDA, the pharma company showed purchases worth Rs.8.87 crore during 2026, including Zoryl M1, Augmentin and Dexorange syrup. Manufacturers and firms allegedly denied supplying the medicines, while some batches were found to be counterfeit. The probe also found transactions involving a closed Saharanpur firm. Officials are examining whether medicines were diverted into the market. The investigation is also being extended to suspected interstate links. htc...
