LUCKNOW, July 17 -- A retired lieutenant colonel's locked house in Gomti Nagar's Viram Khand area was burgled while he was away in Pune, with thieves allegedly escaping with Rs.50,000 in cash and gold and silver jewellery worth several lakhs after cutting through the drawing room grill and breaking open an almirah, police said on Thursday. As per the FIR registered on Wednesday, Hanuman Prasad Tiwari had left for Pune on May 12 to stay with his son.
