PRAYAGRAJ, July 10 -- A cyber fraud of nearly Rs.25.98 lakh has surfaced involving restaurant partners associated with Zomato Hyperpure. The company's area manager lodged a complaint at Georgetown police station, alleging that fraudsters impersonated company employees to deceive restaurant partners into supplying goods without receiving payment. According to the complaint by Rajveer Singh, area manager of Zomato-Hyperpure, the fraud took place between March 23 and April 22. Posing as company representatives, the accused contacted restaurant partners from different mobile numbers and placed orders. Trusting them, the partners supplied the goods, but the fraud surfaced when payments were not received. The complaint states that an internal probe traced the fraud to the Chhitpur area of Tagore Town. Two mobile numbers used in the scam were allegedly linked to Bholu Kesarwani, a resident of Devri Kala village currently living in Ghoorpur. When contacted, Bholu allegedly told company officials that two associates had used his mobile numbers for the fraud. The complaint further alleges that his father said Bholu brought consignments of dry fruits, spices and refined oil worth Rs.15-16 lakh to his home in April, which were later sold in the local market.htc...
