In its order issued on Tuesday, the commission termed the incident "deeply tragic". The child died on Monday after a handball pole collapsed on him while he was playing in his school in Udaipur.
The Commission observed that sports are an essential part of a child's development and play a crucial role in building a healthy society. However, it stressed that safety in school premises cannot be compromised, especially when children are engaged in physical activities.
Taking serious note of the incident, Commission directed the state's sports department and education authorities to issue instructions to all schools to ensure strict safety compliance. It called for immediate inspection of sports equipment, including poles, goalposts, nets, and other structures installed in school playgrounds to prevent such accidents.
The Commission also asked all District Collectors to oversee safety checks in schools within their jurisdictions and ensure that proper safeguards are in place. Authorities have been instructed to submit a detailed factual report on the incident without delay. htc...
