LUCKNOW, Sept. 16 -- A brief, partial increase in rainfall activity over the state in the next 48 hours has been forecast even as conditions appear favourable for the withdrawal of the monsoon around September 19 from Western Rajasthan. "While the rain deficit in UP stands at 4%, overall the state recorded 667.5 mm rainfall against an average of 692 mm. East UP recorded 668.4 mm rainfall against average of 734.3 mm, deficit of 9% while West UP received 666.3 mm against long period average of 632.9 mm, excess by 5% in this monsoon so far," said Mohd Danish, a senior scientist at Regional Meteorological Centre, Lucknow on Tuesday.
