Lucknow/Varanasi, June 14 -- At least six people died in rain-related incidents across three districts - Kasganj, Chandauli and Ghazipur, according to reports received here. Loss of life and livestock also occurred in Mirzapur, and Barabanki due to rain and lightning. A state government statement did not mention consolidated data for the number of deaths across the state. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday expressed grief over the loss of life and directed officials to ensure that compensation is provided to the affected families within 24 hours. He instructed senior officials to remain in the field, interact with the public, and ensure all possible aid reaches the affected families. He directed divisional commissioners, district magistrates, and chief medical officers of the affected regions to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and timely provision of medicines and healthcare facilities. The chief minister wished speedy recovery of the injured. He appealed to the general public to take special precautions during adverse weather conditions.
