Property demolished, businesses sealed and luxury cars seized
LUCKNOW, May 17 -- The crackdown against those accused of abetting the suicide of a female salon manager in Lucknow's Gomtinagar Extension has escalated, with police sealing businesses and seizing luxury vehicles while the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) initiated demolition proceedings against properties linked to the accused
"On Saturday, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), in coordination with police, initiated demolition proceedings against an allegedly illegal under-construction apartment building in Sector 6 believed to be associated with the accused. Notices were pasted on the property before portions of the structure were razed during the drive," said the police in a statement.
Earlier, as the probe progressed, investigators found alleged links between the case and commercial establishments associated with another accused, identified as Sharad. The case, registered at Gomtinagar Extension police station under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), is being investigated through what officials described as an extensive evidentiary and legal probe. Police said the main accused, Mangalnath Yadav, 31, a resident of Batrauli Pandey village in Deoria district, was arrested earlier and sent to judicial custody.
"We have also taken into custody three vehicles allegedly linked to the accused and the case - a Swift (UP32 EU 0777), a Scorpio N (UP32 NP 0777), and a Volvo (UP32 KL 0777)," the statement added.
