Power minister reviews summer readiness, flags billing errors
Lucknow, April 1 -- Energy minister AK Sharma on Tuesday reviewed electricity arrangements ahead of summer, directing officials to ensure reliable supply and zero tolerance for lapses in consumer services. At a meeting in Shakti Bhawan, the minister flagged errors in smart metering and computerised billing, asking discoms to make the system error-free and resolve complaints swiftly. He stressed that power supply must be restored immediately after bill payments and warned of strict action against negligence.
Sharma ordered strengthening of grievance redressal with regular monitoring and clear field-level accountability. Reviewing summer readiness, he directed time-bound repair and replacement of transformers, upgrading of dilapidated lines, cable laying and capacity augmentation, warning delays after the onset of peak heat will invite accountability. htc...
