VARANASI, May 30 -- Mirzapur police recovered six bags containing a total of Rs.1.5 crore in cash from two SUVs in the Cheelh area of the district, and detained the two transport businessmen traveling in the vehicles, officials said. Cheelh police station station house officer (SHO) Ravindra Bhushan Maurya received intelligence indicating that two SUVs were traveling from Varanasi towards Mirzapur, reportedly carrying crores of rupees in cash. During the subsequent search, six bags filled with cash were recovered from the trunk of one of the vehicles, which was also found to be operating without a registration number plate. The police subsequently escorted both vehicles and the occupants to the police station. Income tax officer Narendra Kumar Verma and city magistrate Avinash Kumar arrived at the Chilh Police Station.
