India, July 26 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi now has a new social media record to his name. He reportedly scored a global milestone by getting over 300 million views on a single Instagram Reel. Amid the NEET-UG student protests, PM Modi put up a late-night video message addressed to the students on July 23, and it crossed 303 million views within a day, making it the most-viewed Instagram Reel within 24 hours. The surge also resulted in a rise of followers on Instagram for the Prime Minister as his followers count crossed 103 million by the time of going to press. He earned over a million followers overnight with the viral video. At the time of publishing, the video itself had amassed 350 million views. This accomplishment narrowly surpassed the previous 24-hour record of 300 million views, held by American streamer IShowSpeed for a Reel featuring members of the K-pop boy band BTS. Meanwhile, in his address to the students regarding exam irregularities amid the Cockroach Janta Party protests, the Prime Minister stated: "Friends, I know that paper leaks are not an ordinary matter. For lakhs of students and their parents, it is extremely painful. And that is why, in the last two and a half months since the paper leak incidents, several major steps have been taken. The culprits have been caught; they are currently in jail."
