New Delhi, Feb. 8 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to Kerala Rajya Sabha MP Sadanandan Master -- who lost both his legs in an alleged attack by a group affiliated with the CPI(M) three decades ago - praising the lawmaker for drawing attention to political violence in the state by displaying his prosthetic limbs in the Upper House. In the letter dated February 6, Modi said that while Master's courage is widely known in Kerala, there were many across the country who were surprised by the attack by "followers of a retrograde ideology". The letter comes days after Master, a school teacher-turned-politician from Kerala's Kannur, recounted his attack during the discussion on the President's address and Motion of Thanks in the Rajya Sabha on February 2. Displaying his prosthetic limbs on the table during his speech, Master said he wanted to show before the nation and the people what democracy is, as he accused the CPI(M) of perpetrating the attack on him in 1994. In the letter, the PM said he appreciated the calm and confident manner in which Master put forth his points. htc...
