Lucknow, Aug. 13 -- The Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) has secured nearly Rs.20 crore in research funding from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in the first eight months of 2026. Five projects worth Rs.11.2 crore were selected under ICMR's restricted call for the top 10 NIRF-ranked medical institutions, while three intermediate-category projects received another Rs.8.46 crore. The research covers personalised cancer treatment, liver disease, pregnancy-related anaemia, kidney transplant, hepatitis C, IgA nephropathy and neonatal care. Projects include studies on molecular pathways in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, patient-derived organoids for glioblastoma, hepcidin in pregnancy-associated anaemia and viral reactivation after kidney transplant.
