India, Oct. 27 -- As Mohabbatein marks 25 years of its release today, actor Preeti Jhangiani fondly revisits the film that turned her into a household name. The romantic drama, directed by Aditya Chopra and starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, was nothing short of "transformative". Preeti, who played the role of Kiran, tells us, "I was the first cast member to be finalised. There were eight months of intensive training and I also had to learn classical dance. Adi told me that when my character enters the frame, it should feel like 'the dancer has arrived'." Training started at 6am and stretched over the day with filmmaker Karan Johar, choreographer Farah Khan, and co-star Jimmy Shergill. And all the hard work paid off: "Everyone asks if we were in awe of SRK and Big B, and of course, we were. But we were also well-prepared." The 45-year-old calls "working with Amitji an absolute treat", adding, "He was very humorous and always saying he didn't want to sit with the oldies... And his command over both Hindi and English is absolutely amazing." Talking about the cultural impact of Mohabbatein, Preeti reflects, "The movie gave a whole new definition to discovering and expressing love. Even now, wherever I go, people remember me as Kiran. That's such a rare blessing, to have your first film create such a lasting identity."...
