Lucknow, March 11 -- Chief secretary SP Goyal on Wednesday directed officials to ensure full payment of fee reimbursement to schools within a week under the Right to Education Act, 2009 (RTE).To ensure transparent and effective use of funds, a verification process has been made mandatory. The office of the Director of Basic Education has allocated Rs.267.88 crore for fee reimbursement and Rs.279.65 crore for financial assistance.Goyal issued the directions during a weekly review meeting with divisional commissioners and district magistrates via video conference. He said 100% physical verification of fee reimbursement claims submitted by schools should be conducted by block education officers. Random checks of these verified claims must also be carried out by district basic education officers or other district-level officials.Emphasising timely payments, he warned that strict action would be taken against any negligence.
