LUCKNOW, Sept. 19 -- Hundreds of patients were affected at the Government National Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital in Gomti Nagar on Friday as intern doctors continued their protest demanding an increase in their monthly stipend from Rs.7,500 to Rs.25,000. The interns staged a sit-in at main gate from around 8 am to 11:30 am before moving to OPD complex, disrupting services. Patients, including those who had travelled from far-off areas, were stopped at the main gate, forcing many to return without treatment. Police personnel reached the college after being informed about the protest. The interns also raised slogans and demanded an official government order on the proposed stipend hike. The protesters said the demand had been pending for a long time and that interns were performing duties in OPDs, wards and other clinical areas despite the low stipend.
