New Delhi, May 30 -- A parliamentary standing committee on Friday pulled up Union education secretary Vineet Joshi, director general of the National Testing Agency (NTA) Abhishek Singh, and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) brass regarding the recurring leaks of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) papers, while asking the government to fix things, people familiar with the development said. The standing committee on government assurances, led by Rajya Sabha member of Parliament M Thambidurai, in a meeting, discussed various issues including the impact on students of such leaks, steps taken by government and NTA, status of CBI's investigation in the NEET-UG leak in 2024, including other related issues. The committee asked the government representatives to "resolve all these issues as soon as possible". Apart from Joshi and Singh, senior officials from the ministry of health and family welfare, NMC and CBI director Praveen Sood were also present in the meeting. To be sure, Friday's sitting was to discuss certain assurances given by the government regarding the 2024 paper leak but the panel raised the latest leak as well. "The government has been told to ensure that the students who come from far and have to go for re-test should not be charged again and facilities should be provided to ease their burden," said the person cited above....
