Meerut, Dec. 17 -- One worker was killed in an explosion at Shifa Fire Works factory in the Jalalabad area of Bijnor district on Tuesday morning, police said. The blast occurred around 10:30 am on the Jalalabad-Kotwali canal embankment bypass road when sulphur and potassium were being sifted under a mango tree inside the premises. The impact was so severe that Sudhir Kumar ,35, a resident of Padla village, died on the spot. Around 40 other workers, including several women working at a distance, escaped unhurt, though panic and chaos followed. SP Abhishek Jha and other officials inspected the site.
